Job Summary: The Water Resources Coordinator performs a variety of duties related to protecting the water resources in the Chehalis Tribe’s Usual and Accustomed Areas. The position is located in the Chehalis Tribe’s Department of Natural Resources and some of the key aspects of the position include: overseeing the tribe’s water quality monitoring activities, collecting water quality samples and data, coordinating monitoring activities with other regional agencies, processing water quality samples according to specific laboratory procedures and maintaining the Tribal Water Quality Laboratory (an EPA certified laboratory) in accordance with tribal and federal standards. The Coordinator will also review and analyze water quality data and ensure it is uploaded into the EPA’s database.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least one (1) year of experience working in an analytical lab required. An Associate’s Degree in related field and at least three (3) years of experience working in an analytical lab setting may be substituted. Course work in chemistry and microbiology required. Experience performing statistical analysis on environmental data preferred. Knowledge of water quality regulations preferred. Prefer experience with American Indian or Alaska Native communities.
