Position Summary:

The Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the broad area of hydrogeology and/or hydrological modeling beginning August 2023.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to complement the growing department core strength in coastal and marine research and integrate into FAU’s focus on Ocean Science and Engineering/Environmental Sciences by developing a strong innovative externally funded research program and by building internal collaborations with existing units such as the Center for Environmental Studies, the Environmental Science Program, and/or Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. We are seeking a broadly trained hydrogeologist who can effectively teach the fundamental concepts of hydrogeology in the classroom, lab, and field.  We are especially interested in candidates who can demonstrate their experience in working with diverse student populations. The successful candidate will supervise graduate students and is expected to teach undergraduate courses in physical geology, hydrogeology, water resources, as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in geology or a related discipline at the time of application. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Candidates should have a strong publication record commensurate with their experience, demonstrated potential for establishing programs of extramurally funded and independent research, and clear promise of excellent instructional capacity. Candidates should demonstrate skill in the understanding of cultural differences and be able to foster and create educational opportunities where all student populations thrive.
