Description
The Department of Civil and Urban Engineering (CUE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, under the broad umbrella of environmental sustainability, resiliency, and engineering starting in September 1, 2023. The position is expected to be at the rank of assistant professor, although extraordinary candidates at all ranks will be considered.
Qualifications
We seek exceptional candidates who can think broadly and collaborate across departments in interdisciplinary teams to provide novel solutions to growing urban challenges related to civil infrastructure and environmental systems. Areas of expertise may include physical-chemical processes; data driven and AI-enabled approaches for sustainable and resilient design; construction and operation of civil and environmental systems; climate change adaptation; sensing, automation, and informatics for design and construction of infrastructure and environmental systems; life-cycle assessment and resource recovery; fate and transport of contaminants in the environment; environmental chemistry; and innovative water and wastewater treatment processes.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate discipline. We seek individuals with evidence of excellent scholarship who have the potential or demonstrated ability to develop and lead a strong research program. Candidates must also demonstrate or show potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring.

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9 month) range for this position is $90,000 – $160,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
