CLASSIFICATION TITLE:Data Management Analyst II
JOB DESCRIPTION:Maintains the CCS water quality dataset following high standards for data management, documentation, and version control.Expands the CCS dataset by acquiring data from new sources and new geographical areas by integrating data from diverse governmental and non-profit data providers in a variety of formats and documenting data search parameters and acquisitions.Periodically updates/refreshes the CCS dataset by integrating newly available data from data providers.Implements and documents data cleaning procedures in RMarkdown to efficiently discover and resolve data quality issues.Maintains data cleaning scripts in a GitHub repository for version control.Supports researchers and collaborators by preforming data exploration and visualization tasks and by filling special requests for data.Assists in the development and management of relationships between CCS and varied data providers and hosts.Serves as the main point of contact and liaison for information related to the CCS dataset, both within and outside of CCS.
EXPECTED SALARY:$60,000 – $80,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in an environmental science/engineering field, with experience in water quality, watershed hydrology, and/or coastal/tidal systems and familiarity with water quality sampling and lab/analytical methods, best practices (QA/QC) for water quality data, and water quality regulations in Florida preferred.  A bachelor’s degree with 2+ years experience of relevant work can substitute for a master’s degree.Proficiency in R with 3+ years of coding experience; experience with RMarkdown, data wrangling/cleaning (water quality data), and data visualization are particularly desired.Collaborative attitude toward code development, with conscientious attention to detail, reproducibility, and maintabinablity.Familiarity with hydrological/water quality databases and their web interfaces/APIs, including FDEP (WIN/STORET), USGS (NWIS?, and Florida’s water management district is a plus.Familiarity with GIS software (ArcMap or QGIS), geospatial R, packages, shapefiles, and geographic projections is a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills.
