The Snow Surveys and Water Supply Forecasting Unit (SSWSFU) is seeking a dynamic individual well-trained in hydrologic modeling and analyses, an individual who can provide outside-the-box thinking, defend and present engineering solutions, and doesn’t mind getting their shoes or skis dirty once in a while in remote alpine locations.
Under the direction of the Manager of the SSWSFU, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation and distribution of monthly and weekly water supply forecasts; develop and maintain watershed specific and hydrologic computer models to produce weekly and seasonal snow melt forecasts; conduct engineering analyses to evaluate the capacity of current water supply forecasting methods; collect and analyze hydroclimate data from remotely located data collection sites, and maintain database records for engineering analysis of all field data sites. Must be able to work cooperatively with others, maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance and exercise independent judgment in work assignments during water supply and snowmelt forecasting and on hydrologic analyses. Motivated, creative, and energetic persons are strongly encouraged to apply.
