About the Role:
The Senior Floodplain Officer position is located in Berri or Adelaide and reports to the Program Leader, River and Floodplains. The position is part of a team that is responsible for the development and implementation of various components of floodplain and wetland management in the SA Riverland. The position is directly responsible for project management, planning, investigations and advice on issues related to environmental water management in South Australia. This specifically involves working with a team on coordinating the hydrological management of the Pike and Katarapko floodplains using environmental infrastructure to achieve ecological objectives. This includes development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities, preparation of environmental watering proposals, preparing and managing contracts for services, developing and implementing communication materials and activities, and undertaking significant engagement with Traditional owners; key stakeholders and the wider community.
Contract: Temporary Contract 16/01/2023 – 12/01/2024
- A tertiary qualification in natural resource management, hydrology, science or equivalent is highly desirable.
- May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
- Some out of hours work, inter and intra-state and remote travel involving overnight absences may be required.
Remuneration: ASO6 $95,588 min – $101,109 max p.a.
