Emergency work is complex and can be fast-paced. You will have to be personable, communicate effectively, and remain calm in many different settings.
The work environment during an emergency response may vary considerably from the normal work setting. You may be required to travel and work for extensive periods, including weekends and holidays, in times of emergency response activities. During an emergency response, duties may require your working long shifts at hours other than the normal work hours.
You will be part of the State Water Board’s Office of Research, Planning and Performance. The Office develops and implements policies in emerging and cross-cutting areas. Currently, the portfolio of the Office includes climate change, the human right to water, urban water conservation, groundwater management, and more.

The position location is located at 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The Water Boards is two blocks from the light rail and public transportation; within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers’ markets, and the Golden 1 Arena. We offer an onsite cafe, onsite Golden 1 ATM, workout room, and onsite day care services. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.
Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.
