Penn State’s Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE) is currently seeking a Managing Director for our multi user Energy and Environment Sustainability Laboratory (EESL). EESL currently encompasses 7 core facilities: LIME Lab, Water Quality Lab, Accelerated Mass Spectrometer, MicroCT, Distributed Instrumentation Lab, and the Deployable Energy and Environment Sustainability Lab (DEESL). Duties include, overseeing the operations of the shared facilities, providing strategic directing and taking the lead in the programmatic growth for the facilities, prepare reports and analyses on the facilities, seeking out grant opportunities and working with facility directors and faculty user to prepare equipment grant proposals, liaison between researchers, faculty and industry partners, conducting presentations and tours to educate potential users on various facilities and the availability of services. Work closely with the Faculty Director of EESL as well as the Technical Faculty Committee on strategic planning for the facilities. Qualified candidates should have Master’s degree or PhD or with strong experience in science or engineering and experience with analytical instrumentation. This is a fixed-term, full-time appointment with an excellent possibility for renewal.
