CSIRO is seeking two permanent Research Consultants to join the Land and Water team. One role will focus on Regional Economic Modelling and the other will focus on River System Modelling/Basin Planning. Both of these positions will be part of a strong hydrological science and modelling capability within the Basin Management Outcomes Program of CSIRO Land and Water. They will contribute to innovative research and delivery to high impact external projects on regional water planning and integrated water resource management science. They will also contribute to the wider inter-disciplinary efforts of Land and Water in integrated water resource management, development impacts on water and the environment, linking basin scale hydrological processes, hydropower energy production and agricultural production to regional/national scale economic assessments.

The role of the Research Consultant is to initiate, develop, lead and promote CSIRO’s research capability for the benefit of Australia’s economy through strategic partnerships both locally and internationally. The primary responsibility is to contribute to the management of local and international research, client relationships, staff and resources; and to provide a lead role in securing project funds through interactions with local and international clients and prepare detailed research proposals and project reports.

Location:      Canberra preferred. Clayton, VIC or Dutton Park, QLD will also be considered for River System Modelling role

Salary:          $106k – $141k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
