Postdoctoral Research Associate  
Vernon–Texas A&M AgriLife Res.& Ext. Ctr.  
Budgeted – with benefits  
Assist the project leader (Assistant Professor/Geospatial Hydrologist) with the development and implementation of research projects related to sustainable water resources management and water quality on crop, range and grazing lands, and pasture production systems under semi-arid environments. Help in hydrologic, water quality and crop modeling, experimental design, site selection, identification and procurement of necessary equipment/supplies, conduct of experiments and analysis of research data.
Prepare manuscripts for publication, and assist in writing grant proposals and progress reports. Conduct review of literature, collect and analyze preliminary data for proposals, and utilize computers to generate graphics and statistical displays.
Train technicians and graduate students in the planning and conduct of research and data analysis techniques.
Install, maintain, and operate laboratory and field equipment. Assist in ensuring availability of proper laboratory and field supplies as necessary.
Participate in and drive to field days, conferences and meetings to present research findings to the public, policy makers and researchers as directed.  
Perform other duties as necessary.  
Ph.D. in Agricultural/Civil/Environmental Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Ecosystem Science & Management or closely related field at the time of appointment.  
Experienced at carrying out complex and responsible assignments in support of research objectives as directed by a project leader or supervisor  
Strong interdisciplinary research experience related to above research areas.  
TDA pesticide applicator’s license.  
Strong computer and statistical programming skills and experience in using GIS and Remote Sensing software. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others, and communicate fluently.  
Skilled in the set up, instrumentation and maintenance of sensors, analytical laboratory equipment, automatic water samplers and other stream monitoring equipment. Experience with the design, layout and maintenance of field research plots.  
Willingness to work irregular hours and in sometimes adverse climate conditions. Occasional overnight travel will be required. Lifting of 50 lbs or more of equipment or supplies.
