The Role

As the Strategy and Policy Lead, Yarra Strategic Plan (YSP) you’ll be responsible for leading the strategic direction and policy development for the Yarra Strategic Plan project. The YSP is a government commitment, with no set precedent of a plan of this nature before.

This role will require you to work with a range of stakeholders - from Traditional Owners, community members, government agencies through to Ministerial offices – to identify opportunities and priority projects to meet the 50 year community vision.

The Yarra Strategic Plan will demonstrate a new way of planning with the community and stakeholders for improved outcomes for a critical and highly valued water way corridor in the greater Melbourne region.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strategic thinking with significant experience in the development and implementation of complex programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical information from a broad range of various disciplines.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, together with high level verbal and written communication skills in sensitive or complex circumstances.
  • A strong understanding of political, policy and/ or regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt and understand knowledge in topic matter areas other than the candidate’s core expertise areas.

Your ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is required together with a relevant tertiary qualification.
