About the opportunityApplications are invited from outstanding candidates for a probationary tenure-track faculty position in coastal hydraulics at the Assistant Professor level within the Department of Civil and Resource Engineering at Dalhousie University.The successful candidate must provide evidence of demonstrated excellence in, and commitment to, research and teaching. The candidate will be expected to establish a strong externally funded research program, supervise graduate student research, participate in service activities at the Department level and beyond, foster existing and new collaborations with government and industry, as well as collaborate with members of Dalhousie’s research community. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in either Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. Applicants should possess a PhD in either engineering or science, with a focus on water resources, and be eligible and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian province.The Department of Civil and Resource Engineering has established research strengths in the area of water resources engineering, with productive research programs in water and wastewater treatment, hydrology, hydrogeology and geoenvironmental engineering. We are seeking applicants who can complement and build on these strengths and have expertise and research interest in coastal hydraulics, and the design/protection of coastal infrastructure. Dalhousie University is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia with nearby access to world-class coastal sites, including the megatidal Bay of Fundy and its dykelands, as well as many high-energy sandy beaches. The successful candidate should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in hydraulics and coastal hydrotechnical engineering, and supervise senior design projects in areas of water resources engineering.Persons wishing to be considered for this position should apply on PeopleAdmin, and review of applications will commence on November 1, 2022.
