The Rivers Trust is a leading environmental charity and the umbrella body of The Rivers Trust movement. Our vision is for wild, healthy, natural rivers, valued by all. We are at a critical point in our history as we expand to deliver projects to protect and replenish this critical part of the natural environment, and our research and expertise is now needed more urgently than ever as water supply and quality move up the public agenda.
We are looking to recruit an environmental professional with experience and a passion for the role of non-governmental organisations in improving the environment. You will become part of our 11 strong Data & Evidence Team and provide technical support and knowledge-sharing solutions. You will gain key technical skill sets, through on the job training, which are in high demand. The skills you develop, and work you deliver, will facilitate the use of data and evidence for integrated catchment management in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
The role includes taking responsibility for providing technical support for the EU Project Preventing Plastic Pollution, developing data portals for partners with support from the senior technical team, and providing GIS support for Catchment Based Approach and Nature Recovery Network
partnerships.
Candidates will need to have the ability and interest in the use, and understand, of key environmental/biodiversity datasets, and experience of ArcGIS Online (ESRi).
We are also interested in hearing from anyone with skills in ArcGIS Desktop and Pro, Q-GIS, catchment management, environmental modelling, programming (PYTHON or R), research experience and/or water quality or flow monitoring and data management. None of these are essential, and a successful applicant would be supported in developing any of these.
We welcome applications from people from all groups and communities. These are full-time remote roles with scope to work flexible hours, and you could be based anywhere in the country. We are also happy to receive applications for part-time work and secondments – please state this in any application.
