IMDEA Water is a non-profit research Institute, promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid, to carry out research in water technologies. This Institute is part of the IMDEA network, the institutional framework that combines support from both the public and private sectors and harmonizes research with market demand, strengthening the presence of the private sector in science.

It complies with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

DESCRIPTION

The IMDEA Water Foundation launches this call to fill the position of Director of the Institute.

The selected director is expected to lead the Institute driving its scientific excellence and facilitating the transfer of knowledge to society and contributing to its sustainability.

It will correspond to the director:

  • To direct, promote and supervise all the activities of the Foundation, within the guidelines established by the Board of Trustees.
  • To hire personnel at the service of the Foundation and act as the hierarchical superior of all Foundation personnel.
  • To coordinate the elaboration of the action plans of the Foundation, determining its needs and resources, as well as the means necessary to achieve the aims of the foundation.
  • To formulate budgets and annual accounts.
  • To determine the distribution and application of the funds available for the purposes of the Foundation, within the general limits established by the Board of Trustees.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidates must demonstrate a high level in the following aspects: 

a)    Leadership and management skills. Experience in management of R&D centers or units.
b)    Scientific and technological capacity in water technology and management.
c)    Capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship in the area.  Contribution to the transformation of the water socioeconomy. 
d)    Capacity for communication and dissemination of scientific and technological advances in the water sector.

SELECTION CRITERIA

In accordance with the Foundation’s Bylaws, the Director shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees from among persons of prestige in the field of water technology and management, the subject matter of Foundation, qualified for the exercise of the position and with demonstrable experience in directing groups, projects or institutions.

Candidates will be evaluated based on the eligibility criteria. In accordance with the Foundation’s Bylaws, the Scientific Council shall advise the Board of Trustees in the selection process.

Each candidate will be notified individually of the decision of selection or non-selection resulting from the process.

CONDITIONS

Full-time contract with remuneration according to the responsibilities of the position, the merits and worth of the selected candidate.
