This position is a full-time, 1-year term appointment in Norman, Oklahoma. Interested candidates should submit applications as soon as possible. The individual(s) selected for this position will primarily work with water projects across Oklahoma with the Oklahoma Water Survey at OU in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science. Responsibilities include: coordination of water research projects, including coordination of student and staff tasks and project deliverables; contributes to writing proposals, technical reports and documents to support research publications; installs and maintains field equipment at remote research field laboratory sites; collects and processes water data/samples; computes and interprets hydrologic-related data for preparation and inclusion in reports, databases, graphs, and charts; attends, participates and/or leads project and research meetings with public and private stakeholders/cooperators. Candidates should be comfortable working in all weather conditions, and regularly involves visiting remote laboratory field sites with potential exposure to natural hazards.
Job Duties:
- Research project oversight. Monitors the progress of tasks and develops schedules and plans to complete research projects within a scheduled time frame.
- Writes sections of proposals, technical reports and documents to support research publications and presentations. Contributes to dissemination of project outputs through presentations at meetings and conferences.
- Computes, interprets and reviews water-related data for preparation and inclusion in reports, databases, graphs, and charts.
- Collect and process water samples and/or data.
- Install, monitor, and maintain equipment at field sites.
Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor Degree AND:
- or equivalent in Environmental Science, Water Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geography, Geology, or other science or engineering related fields and 3 years of related job experience or equivalent.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate well (verbal and written) and build rapport quickly with students, staff, and faculty
- Basic math skills
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

- Technical writing skills
- Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of specialized terminology (e.g., scientific or technical)

Certifications:
- Driver’s license required to travel to field sites and regional meetings and conferences
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Physical stress or discomfort includes, but is not limited to, odors, greasy, inky or dirty materials, extreme temperature, irritating noises, heavy lifting, stooping, standing, bending, climbing or sitting with no relief and safety hazards.
Departmental Preferences:
- 3 years of project management experience in a water-related discipline including coordination of field site setup and project oversight.
- Strong writing and speaking skills (English)
- Experience in public speaking and communicating with funding agencies and cooperators.

- Depends on research being completed. Days, nights, and weekends.
