Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is seeking a Project Officer (Saltmarsh Restoration) to work with our partners within the Humber Estuary to deliver our joint pioneering Seascape programme with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for the next five years, trialling the combined restoration of dune, saltmarsh, seagrass and oyster habitats in collaboration with Ørsted. Creating a new technical Humber Restoration Team hosted across both Trusts, a specialist project officer is now being recruited with a lead assigned for each habitat.
The role will focus on the saltmarsh restoration and will be responsible for creating a new plant nursery facility and cultivating key conservation species for planting within the Humber Estuary at two demonstrations sites including targeted enrichment and restoration. Applicants will need a sound knowledge of saltmarsh as a fully functioning ecological habitat within complex estuarine settings, including knowing the issues they face and solutions to managing, restoring and enhancing this habitat.
Applicants need to have a ‘can do’ attitude of working with people to secure opportunities for large scale nature recovery across the Humber Estuary, working with their counterparts within Yorkshire forming one team. Experience in partnership working, advocacy and project management will be required, as well as, having excellent communication skills, a high level of commitment to nature’s recovery and a desire to achieve change. A relevant environmental qualification or equivalent working experience and a full current UK driving licence are required.
