The main goal is to find the most suitable novel ionic liquid to carry out the extraction of the organic pollutants from wastewater. To do so, several activities will be performed: synthesis and characterization of ionic liquids, preliminary solubility measurements of the solutes, experimental determination of binodal curves and tie-lines of selected ternary systems, modelling of the phase equilibria data and recovery of the ionic liquids.

Legislation and regulations: Law Nº. 40/2004, of 18th August, in its current wording (Statutes of Scientific Research Fellow) and Regulation of Research Grants of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, in force ( https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt) and Regulation of Research Grants of University of Porto, in force.

Work place: The work will be developed at LSRE-LCM at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), under the scientific supervision of Professor Maria Eugénia Rebello de Almeida Macedo.

a) Academic training – Master in Chemical Engineering ‐ 5 points; Other Masters – 1 point;

b) Degree’s final classification: until 14 values – 2 points; 15 values – 3 points; 16 values – 4 points; equal or higher than 17 values – 5 points

Degree’s final classification:

  • In case of Integrated Master: final classification of Integrated Master.
  • In case of Bachelor (n years) + Master (m years): n/(n + m) x Bachelor’s classification + m/(n + m) x Master’s classification.
