The Ridges to Reefs Conservation Specialist implements activities related to conservation awareness and conservation planning under the East New Britain Ridges to Reefs (ENB R2R) project.
The Ridges to Reefs Conservation Specialist implements activities related to conservation awareness and conservation planning, particularly in helping communities and governments in Papua New Guinea understand the ecological and economic importance of protected areas and sustainable development. S/he explains the importance of protecting and conserving a site’s flora and fauna and planning for future developments, and develops training materials to this end. The Ridges to Reefs Conservation Specialist works with local communities, relevant government departments, the Conservancy’s Papua New Guinea staff and other stakeholders to facilitate Ridges to Reefs conservation planning for East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. S/he reports to the Pacific Division’s GIS and Conservation Information Manager.
The position is located in Central Queensland, Australia and is part time at 20 hours per week for one year. It will require frequent travel to Papua New Guinea and ability to work long and flexible hours, if needed.
