We are seeking a highly-motivated Watershed Policy Analyst to join our Fairfax, VA office.

We are in search of a team member to join our family of engineers and scientists who will provide technical and analytical support for projects that integrate science, water resource policy, and watershed planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research related to water resources planning and management (both technical and policy related)
  • Analyzing water resources (quantity and quality) data using GIS and statistical techniques
  • Supporting characterization studies (e.g., watershed, community/infrastructure resilience, policies, approaches)
  • Supporting development of management options and strategies
  • Developing or preparing descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices
  • Preparing materials and reports to contribute to project documentation and deliverables
  • Developing outreach materials including website content and presentation materials
  • Synthesizing technical information into a variety of forms for various audiences 
  • Conducting quality control and assurance


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a water or environmentally related field with 6-10 years of experience or training in watershed planning 
  • Experience conducting research, analyzing data to support policy work, and preparing written analyses 
  • Strong word-processing and spreadsheet skills  
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills 
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and ArcGIS required
  • Highly motivated, critical thinker and problem solver; detail-oriented, and a team player with strong focus on quality 
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging topics in water resources and integrated management (e.g., integrating water quality and hazard mitigation planning)
