Lecturer (College of Natural Resources)
The College of Natural Resources (CNR) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in a wide variety of disciplines, should an opening arise. At CNR, we study natural and human systems from biological, ecological, economic, and social science perspectives. With more than 120 faculty and approximately 1,800 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, we engage the issues that shape the complex, interconnected world of the 21st century, from sustainable systems to obesity, from water policy to energy policy, and from the far-reaching impacts of climate change to the linkages between the human genome, diet, and disease. Potential course topics may include those mentioned above and/or natural resource management; environmental economics; climate change and energy; strategic planning and project management; innovation, product development and marketing; law, politics and policymaking; community driven development; public health.
Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the college. Appointments are typically part-time and may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), and maintaining a course website.
Basic Qualifications (at the time of application): A completed Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent international degree, is required at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent international degree, or PhD or equivalent international degree, in an area related to Natural Resources or International Development. College-level teaching experience.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
