About the role…

To provide a broad range of skills across the water systems for cyclic maintenance, restoration, repairs and ensure water quality is maintained at the acceptable standards.

Key accountabilities…

  • Perform all types of duties associated with all water systems maintenance, including but not limited to; Water quality testing and recording, commissioning restoration repairs, general housekeeping and construction work as directed on the zoo site.
  • To develop skills in the operation of the water and/or sewerage treatment and reticulation systems in a safe manner.
  • Monitor the operation of all water systems to ensure appropriate levels of disinfection and water quality is provided consistent with relevant standards and requirements.
  • Adhere to works requisition system and follow through with projects in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ensure work is performed in a timely, cost effective manner to prescribed quality standards to meet stakeholder and Taronga’s needs.
  • Perform all trade and non-trade related work activities as scheduled / allocated and instructed by the Supervisor, Water Systems.
  • Maintain Taronga tools, vehicles and machinery in a sound and safe working condition.
  • Comply and suggest sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga’s sustainability targets and reduce the environmental impact.

About you…

We are looking for candidates that have/ are willing to:

  • Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in the operation of Water Systems related to Water Treatment Plants, Reticulation Systems and Water Treatment Plant processes
  • Completed or willingness to complete Certificate III in Water Operations
  • Hold a current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognised, including manual.
  • Current vaccinations records for Q Fever, Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B and Tuberculosis Screening maintained at your own expense.
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
