Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to help shape our new skills and development programme for our water resources technical staff across the business. This doesn’t mean you need to have an in-depth knowledge of the water resources world though – we are looking for someone who is dynamic and passionate about skills and training to join our team.

The role will include working across virtual teams and working with technical staff to understand skills gaps, develop training packages, provide training support for internal staff, advise on early careers opportunities, and enhance our overall recruitment offer.
Your focus in the first year of the role, will be to support our new upskilling programme to ensure the team have the appropriate training and skills for now and in the future, while reviewing our current skills and training opportunities and working innovatively to improve our current early careers offering.

You will be working alongside the Training and Skills Senior Advisor and be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the internal training and development programmes
  • Coordinating the Internship programme
  • Supporting national recruitment campaigns
  • Developing links with professional bodies to explore training and skills opportunities
  • Supporting external outreach to attract new talent
    The team
    You will be part of Operations Catchment Services within the Water Resources department, where the main role of technical officers is to influence water companies and regional groups to protect and enhance the needs of the environment, whilst still maintaining a secure supply of water. You will work closely with those individuals, colleagues within the 14 different geographic areas, as well as our policy makers in the Environment and Business department.
    Experience/skills required
  • Experience of teaching children/adults or delivering training
  • Ability to analyse data, personal and numerical
  • Experience of developing quality training packages and/or teaching materials
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to use your own initiative
  • Ability to respond quickly and positively to change
  • A positive can-do and enthusiastic attitude
  • A team player while also being able to work autonomously
  • The ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment
  • Educated to GCSE Standard or equivalent (C or above in GCSE level English & Maths)
  • A good working knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point (preferably).

Desirable

  • Recruitment experience
  • Experience of apprenticeship recruitment programmes
  • Experience of using SharePoint
  • Marketing/digital marketing experience
  • Basic knowledge of water resources work would be advantageous but not essential
