Water Sector Program Manager – Hybrid Schedule At the American Water Works Association (AWWA), this role project manages technical initiatives and educational products in support of the water sector. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of partners including AWWA volunteers, the World Bank, Environmental Protection Agency, and work on Water Infrastructure Investment activities.Role includes:

  • Develop and maintain goals and strategic plan for programs and initiatives that align with AWWA vision, mission and ultimately enhance participant value.
  • Participate in developing external relationships, identifying partnering and funding opportunities, developing proposals, and managing related projects.
  • Develop and present articles, presentations, workshops, and technical papers at water sector events.
  • Lead technical initiatives, workshops, meetings, and other forums to further AWWA technical and educational program goals
  • Lead technical program development for AWWA events
  • Review manuals of practice, handbooks reports, and other AWWA products for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and analyze data obtained from external sources and internal surveys for reports.


  • Engineering, environmental science or related degree with emphasis on water-related disciplines required along with several years of technical experience in water supply industry.  Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science or related field may be substituted for year of professional work experience. Experience should include:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of water, wastewater, reuse and/or stormwater utility operations required.
    • Project management experience
    • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, identifying partners and collaborators, and proposal development.
