Job Description:

The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at Alabama A&M University invites applications for a Part-Time Post Doctoral Fellow. We seek individuals interested in contributing to research and educational activities related to watershed management. Successful candidate should have a desire to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.

Our current project seeks to quantify potential impacts to water quality and quantity by anthropogenic factors (crop conversion and farming management) and natural factors (weather/climate). This project uses a multi-disciplinary approach involving watershed modeling, weather/climate, machine learning, and water quality indicators.

Start date for the position may be as early as May 1, 2019. Appointment is for eight months.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 1) designing and conducting research within a collaborative setting; 2) analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data; 3) dissemination of research findings at conferences and in refereed journals; 4) facilitating the development of research proposals to secure extramural funding.; 5) development of project evaluation metrics; and 6) mentoring of undergraduate/graduate students.

Candidates who possess any of the following will receive special consideration:

Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
Experience in requests for external funding to support research and outreach efforts.
Experience project management and mentoring junior researchers.
Experience in remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) methods and technologies.
Experience in big data analysis using statistical software packages and computer programming languages (R, Python, and others).
Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Requirements:

An earned doctorate in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines by appointment date.

Additional Information:

SALARY: $3093/month for 24 hour work weeks
