The Environmental & Climate Monitoring Section of the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy’s Knowledge Management Branch enables the protection of human health and the environment by providing timely, reliable and accessible environmental data, information and analysis.
The Geomatics & Data Science Specialist provides specialist advice to senior ministry decision makers, and to technical and professional staff in the ministry, sector or industry on the use and interpretation of corporate data set(s). The position performs advanced spatial and statistical analysis from data from a variety of sources to provide decision support for program, management, strategic or legislative decision makers to maximize the potential of GIS and related geospatial and information technologies to support the business objectives of the program and its clients.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Undergraduate degree in geomatics, resource management, environmental science, geography or computer science or related area, or equivalent.
- Experience developing and managing large spatial and attribute data sets and experience with database management tools and applications.
- Recent experience with ESRI products, satellite telemetry, Java development and web mapping services.
