The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a state owned organisation. We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.

GIZ International Services is planning to apply for the EU-funded TA Facilitiy: “Switch to Green and Water Facilities”.

 

The EU is creating a technical assistance Facility (Switch to Green and Water) since the promotion of the inclusive green economy and the sustainable management of water resources are 2 important priorities of the European Union development policy.

 

The EU aims is to establish a new Switch to Green facility and a water facility. The aim of the 2 facilities is to develop and foster effective dialogue and cooperation on the transformation towards inclusive green economy (notably in relation to SDGs 8, 9, 12) and on water resources management (linked to SDG6) among the EU and developing countries. The 2 facilities will deliver similar services:

 

The Switch to Green facility will :

  1. Provide quality support to improve program identification, formulation and delivery;
  2. Support dialogue, networking and coordination with development partners working on green economy issues; and
  3. Support knowledge creation, dissemination and communication efforts, and build capacities for improved EU cooperation on green economy.

The water facility will:

  1. Provide quality support to improve program identification, formulation and delivery;
  2. Support dialogue, networking and coordination with development partners working on water and sanitation; and

Support knowledge creation, dissemination and communication efforts, and build capacities for improved EU cooperation on water and sanitation.

Your tasks

The Team Leader will provide leadership and management while reporting and advising under the Contractor's internal quality assurance system, in order to ensure high-quality project results. S/he will assure overall consistency and continuity during project delivery, as well as quality control of deliverables and consulting inputs guaranteeing objectivity, commitment to deadlines and achievement of project objectives.

Your profile

Qualification and skills

  • University degree, with at least a postgraduate degree (or equivalent); in areas relevant to the job
  • Excellent team management skills within multicultural environment;
  • Excellent skills in drafting reports and/or studies
  • Good communication and facilitation skills;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish is an advantage
  • Strong analytical skill and computer literacy;

General professional experience

  • 10 years experience in sustainable energy management

Specific professional experience

  •  Min. 2 years in leading projects / teams, ideally EU funded projects;
  • Very strong experience in programming and/or project preparation/evaluation in the field of sustainable / green energy
  • Strong experience with multi-stakeholder coordination work;
  • Experience with coordinating communication efforts in the mentioned field is an asset.
