Job description  

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys both the practical and analytical sides of the Agency. In the field, officers are responsible for fault fixing, installations and data collection at river level, river flow, rainfall and groundwater sites whilst in the office the analysis and checking of that data provides direct support for the Water Resources teams and the Flood and Coastal Risk Management teams. The work is split 50:50 between the field and the office with a vehicle being made available for the field work. There is the opportunity to manage your own workload and work flexibly according to the demands of the role. The role is crucial in incidents with the provision of real time data to the Agency being a priority.

The team  

The team is based at the Medway House office near Tonbridge. The Hydrometry and Telemetry team provide core telemetry, hydrometric data to the Environment Agency. The team collects data across the Kent and South London Area. Our team covers the South London rivers as well as the Mole, Darent, Rother, Stour and Medway.

Experience/skills required  

You will ideally have a practical background and be educated to at least A level standard but relevant experience is also considered. You'll enjoy using your problem solving skills to make a difference to the hydrometric network and ideally will have some background of managing data sets. Full training will be provided for both the field and office aspects of the role. You should be happy to work in the field, often in demanding weather conditions, all year round. You should have a full UK driving Licence and be able to swim 25m.
