U.S. nationals: Hydrologist
As a Hydrologist within the California Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Collect and analyze hydraulic and sediment transport data in rivers.
-Perform topographic and bathymetric surveys on rivers.
-Interpret and publish data.
Work Environment: The position requires moderate periods of standing and sitting while in the office. While in the field, considerable walking, bending, climbing and stream wading is necessary to collect data, and lifting fairly heavy equipment, sometimes during adverse weather conditions. Outdoor work involves moderate or sometimes extreme exposure to the discomforts of rain, cold/hot weather, and rapidly running or icy streams and rivers. Special safety precautions are required in many cases, and the employee typically wears life jackets, special safety boots, waders, and reflective rain gear.
