Responsibilities

This position may be filled at the GS-05 or GS-06 grade level. At the full performance GS-09 level, the incumbent serves as a Hydrologic Technician.

At the GS-05 and GS-06 levels, the duties of this position are developmental in nature and lead to the full performance level of GS-09. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next level of the position upon meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level. Note: Promotion is not automatic.

At the GS-06 level the incumbent:
-Conducts pitot tube and current meter measurements; takes water samples; and measures the depth of groundwater wells.
-Maintains water accounting records, files, and maps, and develops delivery and lost reports.
-Uses computer programs to enter and download data from field monitoring instrumentation into automated databases.
-In the absence of the Friant Dam Tender in charge of water operations and deliveries, assumes the responsibilities of this position.
-Maintains hydrologic recording and measuring equipment.
-Assists in providing for a healthful workplace by complying with all Reclamation regulations regarding safety standards; conducts safety meetings; and writes project plans and job hazard analyzes
