Michael Baker International’s Water Practice provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.
The Mountain Region Water Practice Lead will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the firm’s water strategies and growth. This regional leadership position will involve close partnership and coordination with our national water practice team. Develop and drive the implementation of the strategic business development plans to expand the firm’s water practice in terms of water/wastewater, water treatment, green infrastructure, climate change/resiliency, CSO water quality, flood control and surface water quality expertise. This will include developing and capturing new market opportunities and expanding existing relationships within the regional and national marketplace.
As a key part of our National Water Leadership Team, you will work with Michael Baker’s senior Management and staff across the firm to increase the firm’s water business and to facilitate the execution of exceptional projects for our clients. You will also serve as a subject matter expert in the region for the water practice and advisor for project teams and identify and leverage industry trends and future opportunities.
Marketing and Business Development responsibilities include activities such as assisting in relationship development with key clients, identification of specific project opportunities, positioning for targeted identified pursuits and supporting preparation of proposals and interviews. Post award, the Regional Practice Lead may be involved in contract/scope negotiations and work plan development.
Be the face of Michael Baker’s water practices in Denver and the Mountain Region developing and maintaining trusted adviser relationships with key water clients throughout the region.
Lead water market awareness and grow Michael Baker’s role and position in the region through leadership and involvement in professional associations, conferences, boards, and the preparation of technical articles.
Proactively identify programs to help address water programs including items such as: aging water infrastructure and water quality issues, and advance the programs to specific, targeted states, projects, and clients.
Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for major water project opportunities focused across the Mountain Region and western United States, especially major water resources plans and projects, and supply/treatment expansion projects and support key national pursuits where appropriate.
Collaborate with our National Water Market Practice Lead, client service teams, region management, local offices, and divisions in developing targeted client service action plans.
Develop client and project capture and pursuit strategies for all significant region water activities.
Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker services within a specific practice area to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker.
Responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker leadership and staff.
Actively identify and recruit industry talent as needed for strategic pursuits and projects.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental science from an accredited program.
Professional engineering license is preferred.
Minimum 15 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the water resources and/or wastewater market place.
Knowledge of regulatory issues and key players in the water market within Colorado and the Mountain region
A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
Must demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, leadership, clients and public officials.
Technical excellence with development of major water pursuits and proposals.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Mountain region.
