About Water For People Water For People India is a non-profit organization which supports people of developing countries to improve their quality of life by promoting locally sustainable drinking water sources, sanitation facilities and health and hygiene programs. We believe that access to safe water and adequate sanitation are basic human rights and can help put an end to needless suffering and mortality from water related preventable diseases.   Water For People India initiated its operations in West Bengal in 1996 in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts. Consistent with the global vision and mission, we exist to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. Our organizational values are: accountability, courage, empowerment, partnership and transparency. Water For People India programs have been implemented in 26 districts in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Assam.   In all, nearly 1.2 million people have been reached through community drinking water and sanitation, WASH in public institutions and market led approaches to sanitation. By 2023, Water For People India programs aim to directly benefit 2.7 million people. We aim to build capacities at the district level which will contribute to organizational commitments, thereby indirectly benefiting 14.8 million people. Water For People India implements programs through locally registered non-government organizations. Additional summary about Organization Water For People India, is inviting application for hiring a consultant for partnering in the analytical and strategic process of developing / conceptualizing Program Country Strategy for the year 2022- 23.   Background –   For improving access to water supply and sanitation, promoting better hygiene, improving water resources management, and improving water productivity for community is the ultimate driving force and objective of all programs being developed in Water For People. With a distinct sector goal ( SDG 6) , Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is at the center of this ambitious new agenda of the global development sector. This envisages universal, sustainable, and equitable access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as the elimination of open defecation by 2030. WASH also contributes to numerous other goals, including those relating to nutrition, health, education, poverty and economic growth, urban services, gender equality, resilience, and climate change.   Water For People emphasizing an integrated approach to development and in process of developing, documenting and presenting an integrated program strategy for our program teams working under the entities of Water For People India and Water For People India Trust. Our Country Program Strategy will be based on the following key points-

WFP Priorities Water – Safety Sustainability, Water quality and access Sanitation – social norms, availability, sustainability, Sanitation at Scale through Market System Development, Rural Latrine Building and Fecal sludge management Hygiene – To promote behavior change and community ownership for sustainable results. We also focus on – Promoting effective monitoring and evaluation, research, Learning and building knowledge management tools and processes. Promoting Gender and Social Inclusion in our program objectives, methodologies and encouraging inclusivity when we collaborate with WASH sector partners. Pilot and innovation WFP Program Objectives –   By 2030, we aim to serve 20 million at the local level, to reach 200 million at the national level, and to influence change globally, thus closing the gap for the over 2 billion who still lack water. Support in building capacity of Service Authority and Service provider to achieve the D30. Leverage resources for WASH Private partnership of communities and government. Enabling environment – strengthen capacity and systems to enable all actors to contribute effectively Accountability – support transparency, monitoring, and people’s participation as indicator of Community Engagement. Developing convergence approach –  WASH as a contribution to education, health, nutrition, and other outcomes, including WASH in institutions, gender, and disability.
