Job Summary/Basic Function:Wright State University – Lake Campus invites applications for a full time professional water quality research assistant position to complement environmental and conservation research. The water quality lab at WSU Lake Campus takes an integrated approach to understanding water quality issues in the Midwest, specifically the Lake Erie and Grand Lake St Marys watersheds, in an effort to promote landscape conservation practices to ensure sustainable water resources. The position provides support for existing research endeavors associated with multiple research programs. Minimum QualificationsRequired qualifications for this position include a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in agriculture, biology, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, or other related discipline as well as a minimum of 1 year related work experience (which may include graduate program student experience). Valid drivers license and transportation required.

Essential Functions and percent of time:Characteristic duties and responsibilities are listed below. Expected percentage of time in parentheses.- assist with water quality lab testing and analytical equipment operation (30%)- assist with sample collection in the field (30%)- assist with coordinating undergraduates working in the labs – note that functional supervision may be exercised over laboratory assistants/research aids and that these duties will include reporting to primary investigator of activitiies (25%)- manage and order research supplies (5%)- maintain and update lab datasets (5%)- draft reports or documents (5%)

Working ConditionsWorking conditions vary. Indoor conditions may include exposure to hazardous materials and outdoor conditions may include exposure to extreme heat or cold and other discomforts. Some of these outdoor conditions include but are not necessarily limited to visiting wetlands, streams, or lakes and taking water samples and transporting back to the lab for analysis. Walking in difficult terrains is often required to collect samples.
