Our New York office is looking for an experienced Water Engineer to develop sustainable engineering solutions for water, including green infrastructure, water reuse, master planning, utility impacts, sustainability assessments on a variety of exciting site development, water utility, and civil infrastructure projects. We’ve aligned ourselves with the UN’s SDGs and are looking for those who are passionate about creating a more sustainable and resilient future.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading design of stormwater, water supply, wastewater systems (including water reuse), master planning, and conceptual design
  • Advising our clients and collaborators on application of climate adaptation and resilience strategies
  • Interacting directly with our client’s for project delivery and relationship management
  • Working with the local agencies and understanding their regulatory approval and building permit processes
  • Creatively collaborating with designers including architects, landscape architects, urban planners
  • Coordinating with associated disciplines including SMEP, architecture and landscape architecture, geotechnical engineering, transportation planning, civil and environmental engineering, and cost engineering
  • Performing construction phase engineering support and site observation
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Participating in proposal writing and marketing activities
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences

The Qualified Professional will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
  • NY/NJ PE or ability to obtain
  • 4 or more years of experience in water infrastructure planning and design (including stormwater management), hydraulics and hydrology,  and master planning
  • Sound knowledge of core water engineering fundamentals such as hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, low impact development and utilities coordination
  • Solid understanding of water engineering design and analysis software (such as Civil 3D, InfoWorks, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, HydroCAD, PC SWMM,  etc.)
  • Experience working with local water agencies
  • Experience with local regulatory and permitting agencies,
  • A commitment to sustainable design practices
  • Commitment to actively participate in local industry organizations as appropriate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build consensus among clients and teammates alike
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
  • A desire to have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility
  • Knowledge of GIS and Adobe software
