The program Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Services Sector Development Program focuses on ensuring sustainable and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation and hygiene for rural areas in eight provinces of Cambodia. A goal is supporting the national target of universal access by 2025. This project is the third project within this program, and it will support the i) strengthening of rural water supply and sanitation institutions, ii) water and sanitation infrastructure and expansion of services, iii) capacity building of human resources and management. The project has been designed to empower and enable the Ministry of Rural Development, Provincial Department of Rural Developments and local government agencies to lead and accelerate progress towards improved rural water supply and sanitation coverage with a focus on inclusive sector development and institutional sustainability. 

The geo-hydrologic expert will assess the availability and quality of geotechnical, hydrologic, and geo-hydrologic data in Cambodia. With the use of the data, the availability and characteristics of the groundwater sources in the project area will be described. Recommendations will be formulated for (i) additional surveys to reduce the number of unproductive wells; and (ii) the collection, quality assurance, and storage of data to be collected during project implementation.

Qualifications required

  • Degree in hydrogeology

Professional experience required

  • More than 15 years of experience within the field; 
  • including 10 years of experience in rural development, rural water supply and sanitation, and related fields; 
  • Previous experience as team leader on ADB TAs and/or loans and on similar projects financed by multilateral development agencies in Southeast Asia is preferred.


6 man months over a 5 year project duration (2019-2024)
