We are seeking to appoint either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer on a full time, permanent basis from September 2022.

The role

We are seeking to appoint a new Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in in water chemistry and water quality.

This role will fulfil research, teaching and administration duties as a lecturer or senior lecturer in water chemistry with a focus on water quality within Geography and/or Biosciences.

You will contribute to extending the research profile of Geography and/or Biosciences, particularly in areas related or complementary to the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW).

CREWW is an exciting new venture at the University of Exeter. Funded to the value of £31.5M, thanks to a grant from Research England and investment by South West Water, CREWW has been established to undertake research into some of the most pressing environmental challenges in our time – namely how we can manage our precious natural resources in ways which are sustainable and resilient in the face of climate change and population growth.

About you

The successful applicant will have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in an active field of hydrological and/or water quality modelling research related or complementary to existing Exeter strengths. They will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics:

For a Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a subject or a closely related disciplin and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact.

For a Senior Lecturer post, in addition to the above, you will have:

  • A strong potential for research leadership
  • A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
  • Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges
