The Environmental Policy and Strategy (EPS) team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated intern to join us in Stockholm for support in a political and economic analysis of Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries. You will be primarily focusing on research and policy analysis.

Project background and tasks

The EPS team specializes in complex stakeholder dynamics management, focusing on transitional countries at the local, regional, and national levels. The team supports governments in demand-driven sustainable, environmental, and climate transitions in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. EPS team activities include developing and implementing comprehensive environmental strategy and action plans, designing and implementing support for national sustainability transition efforts, and capacity building and support for EU approximation processes in different candidate or potential candidate countries.

EPS is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated intern to join our team in Stockholm for support in a political and economic analysis of EaP countries. You will be primarily focusing on research and policy analysis.

Possible tasks:

  • Support research and policy analysis in EaP countries, such as how to support EaP accession to EU pathways, sustainable energy transition/energy security/decarbonization, waste management and circular economy efforts
  • Engage in data collection, data analysis and reporting
  • Prepare background materials for discussions, correspondence and briefing sessions
  • Support compiling and editing of reports, meeting notes and minutes
  • Support/lead meetings, workshops, webinar design, planning and implementation (scheduling, content and logistics).

Profile

  • Studying for a master’s degree in a relevant topic: international development, political economy, international policy and affairs, public policy and governance, and/or environment, climate and energy management and research
  • Proficiency in English, knowledge of Russian language an advantage
  • Ability to effectively multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, ability to deal with people from variety of backgrounds
  • Good user skills of Microsoft Office
  • Interest in EU environment-related policies such as Green Deal and EU initiatives such as E5P and EU4Energy Programme supporting sustainable transitions in EaP countries.

Location
