Summary of Job Duties

Responsible for developing mobile and internet of things firmware and hardware applications in support of the Irrigation Water Management Program. Writes or follows the irrigation program specification using structured code and printed circuit board design to develop new products for irrigation water management. Documents, develops and maintains current hardware and firmware. Works with Irrigation Engineer and team members to conduct research, design prototypes, program microcontrollers, PCB design, construct prototype boards, and test completed designs. Coordinates and works closely with Mobile App Developer. Maintains and trains team members. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Training or experience in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of PCB software design and firmware programming techniques, debugging and testing. Knowledge of circuits, internet of things, industrial controls, motors, Programmable Logic Controllers, fuzzy logic, Domain Reflectometry, PID, low energy Bluetooth, low power management, ability to learn new concepts. Knowledge of Android Studio, Arduino IDE, Eagle, Microchip, Atmel Studio, Javascript, HTML, XML, Web Services, nodeJS or ability to learn. Ability to test programs and prototype boards and make improvements. Ability to devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems and function in a research environment. Ability to prepare documentation. Ability to work independently and coordinate work activities.
