Responsible for collection, analysis, and maintenance of hydrogeologic data, and performing data and statistical analysis projects and modeling efforts in support of the mission and values of the Edwards Aquifer Authority.


Coordinates hydrogeologic data collection from various input sources and projects. Provides review, evaluation, maintenance, and analysis of hydrogeologic data sets in support of the groundwater and surface water modeling efforts and associated aquifer research projects. Performs groundwater and surface water modeling efforts at the direction of the supervisor. Applies analytical and statistical formulas and procedures to data and prepares technical reports. Prepares graphical and map-oriented representations of data and data models. Contributes to the annual planning and budgeting process. Provides general and technical information to the public as requested. Works under general supervision. Work is occasionally directed in several aspects and is moderately independent referring to policies, practices, processes, and procedures. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters. Refers more complex matters to the supervisor. Works collaboratively with others. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, computer science, statistics, or a closely related field plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience or master’s degree plus one year of relevant experience. Working knowledge of environmental systems and hydrogeology concepts, especially related to karst aquifers. Experience with data and statistical analysis procedures and practices required. Experience with data analysis, statistical, and database software and programming (e.g., Python or R codes) preferred. Experience with computer modeling techniques applied to regional aquifer simulation-optimization preferred. Ability to explain complex technical aspects of various studies in non-technical terms to the public. Strong research and analytical skills. Effective oral, written, time management, and organizations skills. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgement, and responsibility. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.


Job performance may require listening, seeing, sitting, talking, occasional reaching, grasping, lifting, handling, pulling or pushing, balancing and carrying of items such as boxes of materials, books, etc. with weights not exceeding 25 pounds; limited walking, standing, stooping, and bending; some irregular hours and long workdays and moderate levels of stress. Job is performed primarily in an office environment with infrequent trips to other offices and limited exposure to weather conditions.
