The Role: 
This position offers the opportunity to join Xylem’s early-stage decision intelligence solutions technology team in their endeavor to revolutionize the ways water utilities solve age-old infrastructure problems. The successful candidate will demonstrate how past experiences and education, combined with a passion for improving our industry through digital services, will lead to a highly motivated WNO project delivery team focused on client success.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Act as contributor and the subject matter expert to provide technical leadership for a Hydroinformatics Engineering team to configure, calibrate and deploy digital twin simulation services for optimizing the operation of drinking water infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate with Client Success Project Managers to provide technical execution updates needed for the PM team to manage schedule, scope and budget to exceed client expectations
  • Orchestrate Engineering Client Success team to plan and execute WNO client delivery tasks related, but not limited, to: 1) data access and replication; 2) configuring the WNO digital twin; 3) calibrating the network hydraulic model to reduce prediction errors; and 4) deploying live services and user interfaces
  • Set a standard for being passionate about technical excellence and integrity, as a foundation for successful WNO project delivery
  • Forecast and communicate engineering resource needs to resource management team to ensure the team has adequate resources to meet the client schedule, scope and budget. 
  • Drive engineering project delivery efficiencies, and collaborate with WNO Product Management  to support building needed capabilities into new or existing software delivery tools
  • Develop and maintain WNO technical documentation, including  engineer staff training and onboarding and ensure that the delivery team is ready to execute and scale WNO with skill and efficiency
  • Support Client Success Project Managers to identify and mitigate technical bottlenecks for smooth, predictable project delivery, and communicate key technical results/updates/deliverables generated by the engineering team
  • Support the WNO Product Management, Product Development, Marketing, and R&D teams in generating and communicating case studies that highlight important WNO success stories
  • Support the Sales team with WNO technical expertise, to help respond to new client opportunities that relate to WNO — including identifying unique client specific requirements that could impede the delivery work scope or require WNO product changes/development

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering; preference given to those with advanced technical degrees or training.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in developing, calibrating, and applying hydraulic and water quality network models to complex water utility transmission and distribution systems, especially to address operational goals
  • Experience with modern data science workflows for data access and filtering, geospatial analysis, model parameter estimation, systems optimization, and building and running hydraulic network simulation models 
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in leading engineering project teams
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams – with Engineering, Client Success Project Managers, Product, Marketing, Sales, Resource Management, Leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for using smart water technologies to drive new efficiencies in the water industry
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to develop new skills
  • A creative mind and hands-on problem-solving abilities
  • Working knowledge of Jira is preferred  
  • Agile Methodology experience preferred

  • Travel requirement: As required to fulfill the duties listed above, other travel as needed or required.  Up to 30% travel once COVID travel restrictions are lifted.

Further, if the Company determines this role may be performed in or from Colorado, the salary range is $95,000 to $120,000  plus bonus. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law. We offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
