UK nationals: Environment Planning Officer
We have exciting opportunities for you to make a real difference to our water environment, helping to manage dry weather, and drought, to deliver sustainable water resources in East Anglia Area.
Two posts are available at our Brampton office and two posts are available at our Ipswich office.
As one of the driest parts of the country you will be supporting our ongoing water resources workload as we seek to balance the needs of the environment with the needs of our customers. Working with internal teams at a local and national level, you will use evidence and data to inform water licensing and trading decisions with new and existing customers. This will include processing water resource licence applications, updating our records and using our telemetry systems and databases to provide bespoke information to our highest risk abstraction customers. Full training will be given on our systems and we will help you build your knowledge of our hydrological environment.
The Environment Agency take part in incident response. If successful your manager will discuss arrangements with you depending on your role and circumstances.

Our Integrated Environmental Planning teams are made up of specialists who focus on strategic planning, river basin planning, water quality and water resources. Working with operational teams and national colleagues, the team collates, analyses and shares data to produce engaging and compelling environmental evidence that informs and drives area priorities and environmental improvements.

You will have a good understanding of our business and environmental activities, complementing strong IT skills. Ideally, you will have a degree in an environmental subject and experience of water resources and/or environmental issues in our Area. You will be methodical and organised, with great planning and data analysis skills, experienced in delivering high quality work to defined deadlines.
You’ll possess proven ability and/or knowledge in the following areas:
• Environment planning
• Effective communication skills
• Data quality and information management
