Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Division, the Executive Director Water and Waste Policy, will provide leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of water and waste policy and programs for the province. With a strategic environmental focus, you will lead the design and development of an integrated water policy framework for surface water, groundwater and wastewater as well as provincial waste management and circular economy policy framework, including legislation, regulations, programs, standards and codes.
A strategic leader, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams to address complex provincial, national and international water and waste management issues. With exceptional strengths in developing relationships and excellent communication skills, you will build partnerships with provincial government ministries, other levels of government, industry, regulators, Indigenous stakeholders. non-governmental organizations and others. As a member of the leadership team, you will contribute to the development of policy and planning initiatives essential to a thriving environmental management system that advances environmental, economic and social outcomes for the province. Key to your success in this role will be to ensure alignment and integration as a proven leader with the strategic goals of the ministry and the corporate goals of government.
Qualifications
Your background includes extensive senior management experience with strengths in policy development and implementation and a solid understanding of sustainable development, water management and waste management. You have exceptional skills in negotiation, communication and conflict management to affect change and achieve positive results. Your ability to develop strategic partnerships and working relationships with key stakeholder groups is also essential. Demonstrated consultative approach and ability to lead complex projects, and ability to influence innovative approaches will support your success in this role. A degree in science, natural resources or a related discipline is preferred.
Salary
$4,801.47 to $6,310.03 ($125,318 – $164,691 / year)
