Position Details
The role of Project Office offers an opportunity for an experienced water sector or natural resource management professional with the opportunity to utilise their technical, project management and policy skills to support Victoria to implement its framework for managing salinity accountability in northern Victoria and support sustainable irrigation practices across Victoria. The successful applicant will work with a diverse range of stakeholders in a dynamic interjurisdictional program.
The Project Officer will oversee discrete projects to:
– review and/or assess activities resulting in a increase/decrease of salinity mobilisation to the Murray River and/or local floodplain
– support developement of policies and programs to help irrigators use water wisely while protecting and enhancing the natural environment
The role is suited to someone with strong technical knowledge (e.g. surface and groundwater modelling or salinity processes, hydrology and hydrogeology) along with strong stakeholder managment and policy skills.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate qualification in natural resource management, science or approved equivalent qualification.
- Professional experience in management of water or natural resource management policy, project and/or issues (e.g. salinity, water logging, water quality, water use efficiency, water trade, landholder practice change, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with hydrology and/or hydrogeology would be highly desirable.
- Experience in development and/or application of surface or groundwater models would be highly desirable.
