Job Description
Freshwater Future seeks a self-motivated youth (age 15-30) with solid communication and technical skills to support our engagement and communication activities. This position is partially funded through Nature Canada’s Work to Grow program. One of the goals of Work to Grow is to diversify and strengthen the nature sector. As such, this opportunity is only available to individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Colour. This is a remote position based in Guelph Ontario.
The Communications and Engagement Coordinator will work with the Program Director to:
- Develop and implement an engagement and communications plan for Freshwater Future Canada;
- Update the Freshwater Future Canada website;
- Maintain regular engagement through social media and weekly newsletters; and
- Help to organize and host virtual meetings and networking events.
Summary of Qualifications
- Clear written and verbal communicator
- Able to manage time and work independently from home
- Comfortable organizing and facilitating virtual meetings and events
- Proficient with MS Office and Excel and GSuite
- Experienced with Web development (WordPress) and social media engagement (Twitter)
- Interest in and knowledge of environmental issues impacting the Great Lakes
Salary
The hourly wage for this position is $18.10 (living wage in Guelph, ON). The position can be part-time or full time (up to 35 hours a week). This position is a short term contract (until March 31, 2022) with potential for extension (funding dependent).
