- Purpose of the Consultancy
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to the to the implementation of the Regional GLAAS 2021/2022 project and the monitoring of SDG 6.a and6.b indicators towards improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR).
- Background
WHO/EMRO/CHE has been facilitating and providing technical guidance to the Member States for improved WASH services and monitoring of SDG6. WHO/EMRO/CHE launched the GLAAS 2021/2022 cycle in the region and received confirmation of participation by 17 countries. One of the countries completed the GLAAS process. WHO/EMRO/CHE will continue to support 16 countries in the EMR to complete the GLAAS 2021/2022 survey, which reports on SDG 6.a and 6.b indicators.

- Work to be performed
Output 1: Implement the Regional GLAAS 2021/2022 project
Deliverable 1.1: Provide technical review and feedback of submitted GLAAS 2021/2022 surveys by participating countries.
Deliverable 1.2 Validate and review responses from countries in the EMR to complete the GLAAS 2021/2022 survey.
Deliverable 1.3: Follow-up on the GLAAS process by participant countries and develop monthly reports on the GLAAS 2021/2022 implementation process in the region.
Deliverable 1.4: Engage with Regional Advisors and Global GLAAS Coordinators on GLAAS-related issues
Deliverable 1.5: Provide technical insights and recommendations from GLAAS 2021/2022 in the region towards future improvement of the survey and process.

- Specific requirements
– Qualifications required:
Essential: University degree in Environmental Health or Public Health or Water, Sanitation and waste management
– Experience required:
5 experience in WASH in monitoring water sanitation targets and indicators.
– Skills / Technical skills and knowledge:
Competency in monitoring water, sanitation, hygiene and waste management targets, strong communication skills, proven coordination skills, ability working in multi-cultural environment, Partnership development skills
– Language requirements:
Fluent in Arabic and English (Read-Write-Speak)
- Place of assignment
The consultant is expected to perform her/his work in the WHO office in Amman, Jordan. The assignment implies his/her presence in the office 3 days per week for the whole duration of the project. A remote working modality will be arranged with needs and mutual agreement.
- Medical clearance
The selected Consultant will be expected to provide a medical certificate of fitness for work.
- Travel
The consultant is not expected to travel.
