Ph.D. position at the University of Illinois with a focus on urban hydrometeorology via AGU

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois is seeking an outstanding applicant to pursue a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric sciences with an emphasis on urban hydrometeorology and associated land-atmosphere interactions. Successful applicants will receive a research assistantship (RA) at the university. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual with a strong interest in urban climate and impact studies. Specifically, the research project will include numerical modeling of storms and heatwaves over urban areas. In addition, the research will include an observation-based analysis of urban hydrometeorology using radar, satellite, and in-situ observations.  

Applicants should have a strong educational background that is well-grounded in physics, meteorology, and mathematics. A candidate with working knowledge of computer programming, e.g., in Fortran, C/C++, or other relevant language is preferred.
