This is your opportunity to:

  • make a difference to management of waterways and catchments
  • be integral to shaping the direction of a vibrant and growing company
  • live and be based in the highly desired location of Bright, northeast Victoria

Who is Streamology?

Streamology is a niche consulting company focused on the science and management of waterways, wetlands, estuaries and catchments. The company evolved in 2014 with recognition of the increasing gap between the research (science) and management (application) of knowledge in this field.

With strong ties to universities, Streamology is considered an industry leader in the integration of current knowledge to pragmatic approaches and solutions that make a difference to the way we manage our water and waterways. We develop methods, frameworks and monitoring programs, and apply these to projects in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and regional areas throughout Australia.

Why you?

You have a passion and understanding for the management of waterways and water, and the underlying science, and want to help make a difference. You have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in waterways and water and like to either push the science, or at least keep abreast of it.

You have an appropriate tertiary qualification (e.g. environmental engineering, physical science) with interests in fluvial geomorphology, ecohydraulics, hydrology, sedimentology, waterway design or stormwater management.

You can think laterally, but have a good eye for the detail, you are self-motivated, and you can comfortably liaise with clients in a high-rise boardroom or on a muddy river bank. Your writing style allows you to distil the complex problem into a simple message.

Your skills and experience ideally include:

  • Project management – of projects in water, waterways, wetlands and estuaries
  • Hydraulic modelling – 1D and 2D (e.g. Tuflow)
  • Geomorphic assessments – desktop and field
  • Field-based monitoring and assessment
  • Waterway design - conceptual to detailed
  • Hydrologic analysis – urban and rural
  • GIS analysis

Where?

Streamology’s headquarters are uniquely positioned in the vibrant town of Bright, northeast Victoria. Unshackled from a city we love where we live as a base for our work throughout Australia.

Bright enjoys the region’s best cafes, breweries, restaurants, bars, cinema, ski resorts, bike and running trails, camping and hiking, paragliding, and river sports. Bright offers contemporary living in a natural setting with unparalleled conveniences for a regional location.

Why Streamology?

We enjoy what we do and want to make a difference. By living and working amongst healthy waterways we recognise the importance they play in the future, including within cities and suburbs (half of our work). We recognise that people are our asset and not a product. We encourage leadership and initiative. We work hard but recognise that lifestyle is important and this permanent position (4-5 days/week) can provide flexible working arrangements to accommodate this.
