About the role

As a leader in environmental sustainability and outstanding research, the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University offers a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees which specialise in engineering, earth and environmental systems, marine systems, forest science, regenerative agriculture and information technology.

Our Engineering undergraduate and postgraduate courses touches on every facet of modern industry, from biofuels to big data. Our teaching and research is focused on innovative approaches to contemporary issues including global warming, sustainable agriculture and forestry, water security and ecosystem restoration. Engineering is at the heart of Southern Cross’ new research impact strategy and we seek to build capacity and collaboration across clusters that will focus on delivering secure and sustainable food supply; regenerative and precision agriculture; managing nutrient cycling and recapture; geoengineering on our reefs and mitigating climate change in our waterways and oceans; decarbonisation, blue carbon and carbon sequestration; smart environments, regions and infrastructure so as to engineer improved environmental health outcomes.

The Senior Lecturer/Lecturer provides a high standard of teaching and learning and educational design and delivery. They are responsible for supporting and enhancing the student experience by adopting a student-centered approach to education delivery, actively engaging and adopting existing and emerging learning technology and platforms, and providing flexible options across blended and online modes.

The Senior Lecturer/Lecturer contributes to innovative curriculum development and actively leads the scholarship of teaching through reflective practice, as well as undertaking research or scholarship activities that align with the Faculty’s profile and priorities.

About you

We are seeking Senior Lecturers/Lecturers to actively support the Faculty’s engagement with community, government, industry and professional bodies and with local and international partners and to equip our students with the skills and ability to solve emerging challenges for a better world.

You will be a highly-engaged, innovative and inspiring academic, committed to reflective teaching practice, enhancing the student learning experience and graduate outcomes. You will have a publication track record, reflective to opportunity, with a research profile that aligns with the Faculty’s. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to work collegially and effectively across a multi-disciplinary team.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a PhD in Engineering and expertise in at least one of the following: mechatronics suited to farming or industry applications, hydrology, data science and system analytics’ tools, system modelling and data interpretation, smart cities and the Internet of Things.
