We are looking for a Water Quality Monitoring Specialist to join our team. The Water Quality Monitoring Specialist is responsible for monitoring and assessing water quality conditions and trends of all State’s surface water to determine if water quality standards are met. Responsibilities of this position include: 1) Compile and analyze information on watershed water quality, stream bank and riparian conditions, land-use and sources to determine needs for monitoring projects in a particular area; 2) Identify and characterize specific causes and possible sources of pollution and pollutants; and 3) Conduct the installation, calibration, maintenance and technical interpretation of field instruments for all Bureaus’ “internal” monitoring projects.

The Water Quality Monitoring Specialist position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, limnology, geomorphology, aquatic ecology, ecology, or a closely related field and two (2) years’ work experience in water quality monitoring. This position requires extensive travel, sometimes alone or in pairs, and potentially strenuous field work.
