The Environmental Analyst will support the Marine Resources Program in reviewing and approving rebuilding and storm recovery projects and also support the Department’s Spring Creek South hazard mitigation project. Will review permit applications for compliance with DEC regulations and maintain permit oversight, including field inspections. Review highly technical documents including hydrology and water quality modeling reports. Assist with contract management and procurement of project design and construction. Will conduct literature reviews and research and apply findings to projects. Review environmental impacts analyses of storm recovery projects, and provide regulatory oversight for municipal programs that are administered by the state.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, marine science, salt marsh or coastal ecology, conservation biology, oceanography, natural resources management or related field. Must have excellent computer skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of New York City marine plant communities and fish and wildlife resources.
