What We Are Looking for
ISGlobal is seeking a scientific-oriented Research Technician to take over and managing activities in new studies aimed to investigate emerging contaminants in drinking water (such as PFAS and microplastics). The candidate is expected to coordinate and execute field work including purchase material, administer questionnaires to study volunteers, sample collection, data collection, and desk activities including data cleaning/processing, literature review, exposure assessment, and eventually some basic data analysis. In addition, the candidate will be involved in the Water Research group, part of the Non-Communicable Diseases and Environment Research Programme. The extension of the contract beyond 12 months, including an eventual PhD, is conditioned to the availability of funds and performance of the candidate.
The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Cristina Villanueva within the project which has been funded by Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the project “PI20/00829″ (Co-funded by European Regional Development Fund “A way to make Europe”).

Training and experience /Qualifications:
Environmental Sciences, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine degree or equivalent scientific or health sciences degree. Demonstrated training or previous experience in epidemiology, and/or water quality will be an asset. Academic trajectory (courses, subjects) and academic scores will be considered in the selection process.

Specific Duties
Assist the research team in different stages of research: preparation of questionnaires, purchase material, prepare documents for the Ethics committee, enroll study participants, contact study volunteers, home visits, sample collection, organize shipment of samples to the laboratory, clean up databases, literature review, etc. Depending on the specific skills and interests, participation in the data analysis and research articles.
